Out of the 179 186 and the 202 which engine is better to work? i have heard the 179 and 186 rev better but the 202 has more torque. not looking for a drag car engine just a fast fun cruiser. what parts are interchangable on these engines.

wow ... this should be interesting :)

My 2 bobs worth is that the 202 was primarily a workhorse motor and thus your previous note is correct re its torque etc.

I had a 202 in an LX Torana that went well but sucked more fuel than the 253 we replaced

If youre after a nippy cruiser, go the 202. The extra cubes and torque will make for a faster car in the real world. Lets be honest, you dont drive down the street at 6grand plus (often, haha) and so for normal, spirited driving, from say 2-5500 rpm, a ni

202 and 3.3 are a bit different
3.3 is blue motor with 12 port head , balanced crank, starfire rods....a better motor by far than a 202

My 3.3 red from a HZ is 9 port originally. So 3.3 does not mean 12 port.

So many variables, what you want, what you afford, what you get, what you believe, what happens, what doesent, what is real, what isnt.

And commodores also had manual transmissions.....

The only exceptions being the blue 3.3L in VC & VH were auto-only in NSW, and the EFI VK was auto only.
