Anyone interested in working on cars should think seriously about a 2-post hoist. In the current economic climate 2nd hand 2-posters are quite cheap. They are so bloody handy, just to do normal work on your car. Ive used 2-posters to do body/chassis sw Edited by user Friday, 17 April 2009 7:29:02 PM(UTC)

I bought a 2nd hand one a few years ago for less than $500. Cost me $120 for a tilt-tray to transport it.

I would agree a Hoist is the answer, however many are 3 phase powered and not everyone has this available at home. Single phase motorised hoists are generally a lot more expensive to buy, due to manufacturing costs of motors and motor controls. A 3 phase

Back to the original topic,
I saw on the EH QLD site I think, a rotisserie made up of 2 engine stands, one at each end, joined by 2 lengths of 50mm SHS. Depends how cheap you can get the engine stands.
Worth thinking about

My mate is building a FE panelvan and he built his own out of Pine timber. Cost, $15., and that was for bolts etc. you can roll the car with 1 hand easy. he used stub axels and rims at either end. Ministry of finance should be happy with that.!
