Hi all, my partners 1992 Hyundai Excel is playimng up and she was hoping someone out there might have some idea what's going on!!
Car was running great until this morning, when after a short stop jumped in to go again and the car turned over just fine but won't fire. The RACV came out and they determined I had no power at the injectors but I had good spark. The MPI fuse tested OK too, any ideas??
Thanks
Peter

Heck could be a lot of things, best way would be to get a wiring diagram and follow back from the injectors.
I dont know anything about Hyundai's. Some cars turn power of to the fuel pump and injectors when you lock the vehicle and activate the antithe |

A lot of those old Hyundai's had immobilisers retrofitted because they were so easy to steal. Someone could have removed a retrofitted immobiliser and a wire they've spliced back together may have come apart.

Find out from a Hyundai dealer if the pulse for the injectors comes from the coil. Talk to a mate today who had a similar problem with a Falcon. Turns out a faulty ignition coil did not have enough kick to pulse the injectors.

Thanks guys, yeah I know Gary but it isn't bad little car!! Anyway he put a light in the plug to the injector and I turned the engine over and it didn't flash. The car makes a great spark so I don't think it's the coil. I disconnected the battery and c |

There would be an injector relay triggered by a pulse from the ECU. The relay may be at fault, or the ECU. The ECU may have a dry solder etc. I may be totally off the right path, but it may help. Try Google search for Hyundai injector relay or Hyundai 199 |

Have had the same prob with a 1991 Hyundai S Coupe, same Mitsubishi engine & electrics. I changed the ECU after Googling the issue, made no difference. So I took the car to a Hyundai dealer for a fault scan, the car refused to communicate a fault code. To

hi pete, there is a change over in 1992 about june/july so the wiring can be different. both use a control relay under the rh side of the dash, the ecu is located behind it. i would get a cheap led test light hook it on to + at the batter to see if you

Getting closer, I got it running again, but the check engine light stayed on. It was flickering on the dash and a relay under the dash was clicking at the same time, I'm guessing this is the injector relay. It was running OK but as soon as I turned the |

They actually aren't a bad little car. I'll admit to owning one, once, for 11 months. It was the 3rd gen shape when they first came out, and they plugged it on TV with the Jerry Harrison "rev it up little boy & ride" ad.
