Hello all

I've been tidying up my VB SL/E ignition leads etc and i want to have the factory look where the ignition coil goes, however i came up with a problem.

First off, the motor is a red 308 and running an Edlebrock Performer manifold. Carby is a remanufactured Rochester Quadrajet. The coil bracket atm is not the original one, so coil isn't where i like it.

Are all red V8's coil bracket the same and will it fit? I've noticed on blue/black V8's the coil is on passenger side and very close to the distributor. On Red V8's, the coil is on the drivers side, coil faces towards brake booster on VB Commodores.

My 1974 HJ 308 Premier (1974 HQ engine dress as these have no canister until January 1975) has the coil pointing toward the brake booster in front of and off to the driver's side of the dizzy. They had to move when the HEI dizzy was installed I think as the big cap fouls on the coil or at least comes very close.

Here is a HT-HJ and LH to early LX inlet and you can see where a coil sits although not the right bracket I think (this one is HJ or LH-LX but HT-HQ is the same manifold just different tapped or not tapped holes for different heater hose and cable throttle):

Here is a 308 HZ or VB Commodore also very late LX, same location:

I can't find a HX or earlier LX ADR27A example even a 4.2L one but the coil is in the same spot IIRC.

I think the Edelbrock manifold copies the red coil position? So a red bracket should work.
