Has anyone tried using the wifi OBD2 with an iPad?
My problem is I have a vx v6 in a ford transit, and whoever did the wiring has not connected all the pins to the sensors?
It is in drive home mode, I am sure the auto is good?? Just stuck in 3rd,
Will get auto inspected tomorrow, make sure bands etc are okie dokie, oil is good colour, so it might be a sensor, or electrical problemo? ( hope).
I just thought if I had my own diagnostic tool, I could keep ahead of any problems?
Plus have a good way of knowing how well the unit is running real time?
Your thoughts most welcome.

VX V6 has very limited OBD2 functionality.
It was only VZ V6 onwards, and VT2 V8 onwards that are full OBD2 capable.
I have a handheld scanner (Creader VI) and it works fantastic on all the new stuff, but does bugger all on an Ecotec. |

Thanks for that mick, so I am wondering, an auto mechanic reset the fault code in Ballina, with his pooter scanner ear, it got me to tweed heads in 3 rd,
I have given it a complete tune up, new plugs, engine oil, air filter, etc, so am I better doing what I am doing, have a capitain cook, at the auto, inside, and then if all is well, work backwards from there? Might be solinoid?

Auto stuck in 3rd is "limp home" mode, so that points to an issue within the box. Probably solenoids, but could be anything simple (such as a poor connection) to something mechanical (like grit/debris in the valve body) or a difficult electrical issue that can end up being tough to track down. |

Check a few basic things first.
The most common transmission fault I've had in these models is a blown fuse. The fuse which supplies the auto trans solenoids is independent of the others. In some series they used the reverse light fuse as their supply.
I'm more than a little concerned about this statement:- "and whoever did the wiring has not connected all the pins to the sensors?"
Has this vehicle been driving for long & what sensors are you referring to ? There aren't that many in a VX V6 & I don't know of too many that you could do without.

Hey mick, doc terry.
What a nightmare! Went to 5 different automatic places to try to get fixed, wasted 6 days in this process. Including an auto elec!!
Finally unconnected the pooter myself? Then found west Burleigh automatics, who put his monitor on it, and 3/2 solenoid came up!!
Hooly Dooley! I am only a basketcase, and I figured out it was a solenoid!!
One clown booked me in, wasted my 3 days, then said he could not do it!! If I wasn't such a wooz, I would have poked my tongue out at him!
Pathetic it was.
Mario at west Burleigh fitted me in, fixed it up el pronto, charged a fair fee, and is amechanic a lowly common basketcasebear can trust. Highly recommended.
I will buy him a bottle of grappa!
Now doc terry, I am not sure all the pins are not connected? Who ever did the conversion certainly did not connect the loom tot the t bar, so the PWR light does not work?
It is a VT pooter, the dash warning light is also not connected. This could be normal for a transit conversion?
I will do some highly involved forensic investigation on which wires should go where!

Good to hear you got it sorted. Sounds like the conversion wiring was a "just enough to make it run" job. |
