Hello, I just had the diff cover off what I believe is a small Salisbury diff which is sitting under my HG Panelvan. was just changing the gasket, but wanted to confirm the ratio whilst cover off. It is stamped on the crown gear as 2.78 however I also found an area on the gear that had been ground and engraved with the numbers 76381-11 was just wondering if anyone on the forum would have any idea want that number might mean. the other factory stamp reads "HOLDEN 7435268 - 2.78 RATIO MD" is HOLDEN 7435268 a part number as I don't seem to come up with anything on Google. I was going to attach a picture of the area but cant find the attach checkbox Cheers and thanks Mick Edited by user Sunday, 20 March 2016 12:12:54 PM(UTC)

The engraved number is the serial number for that crown wheel, and the dash number is probably the pinion shim depth. There will probably be a matching number on the pinion somewhere, as they were matched in pairs and lapped together.
For that reason you will probably find that the 7435268 number will not come up in normal listings as it wasn't serviced separately - only as a set with a matching pinion.
