I'm discovering the whole world of pain that is the rear calipers on a WB.
The PO let the pads wear almost to the metal but that was okay -- I can replace pads easy enough.
Getting the piston on the first caliper to push back in was almost impossible - tried a puller, tried opening the bleed valve, nothing doing. By unbolting and removing the handbrake mechanism it pushed back in but with the handbrake mech bolted back in the piston was out again.
So the calipers are in now getting pulled apart at a brake and clutch specialist. First story was it could be up to $300 per side, if bores are badly pitted and they need a re-sleeve. Now it's up to $500 per side, if the handbrake mech is stuffed. Spare parts for these are NLA.
I've asked them to go ahead and quote, and take it from there.
Does this story ring true to you blokes? Can't quite believe it's going to be up to $1000 to rebuild the calipers.

Never mind. easy fix. The caliper pistons in these things screw back in. It looks like I've got away with it not doing damage.
