Has anyone seen an original Quadrajet on one of these with a Julian date code other than 0048? Or for that matter one of the pre-breakpoint cars with a McKinnon engine still with the 1967 spec carb but with anything other than 0048?

Hi Byron,... Champ not sure where the julian date code is,... but, I have pulled off all the numbers off a HK 81837,.. Series two. here... that i can find atm..

Quadrajet,... Made in USA,..... 702713 DZ,....... and another set of numbers,..... going around in a circle,... under the GM,... then under that there is a co-joined," RP" and the number 7035530.. in a circle..?? is this the Julian date,.??

Not sure if it helps or I am way off track,.... also,... have the HT 350M carb for my car tucked away if it could help.... Cheers BHT

Hi .... Found another set of #'s in a circle formation...

The above 7035530 is on the side of the carb,... like the 702713 DZ.... side of carb also..

The newer #,..... faces upwards .. . these are,... #'s,.... 7033678.... again in a circle,...

7027213 DZ is the numbers for a HK GTS327 Tonawanda engine carby, but it is also a carb for a 1967 327/240, 327/275 and 350/295 and the carby body is different. The Julian date code is down on the throttle base on these. I'll post up some pictures later, although I don't think I can do that on this site.

Hi Byron,.. managed a tiny bit of research on the Julian Date Code,.... good ol'e ,. Google and Youtube 8-)

Apologies,..for the typo,. I had missed a 2,...... it is, Quadrajet,... 7027213 DZ...

There is,.. No,.. "Julian Date Code" on this particular Carb...

""Apparently"",.... the #'s in the circles, I, had mentioned above,.. have zero reference to,. the,,.. Carb number's,.. Julian codes,,.. vehicle,. model,,. date coding etc,...

The circular number sequence are being referred to as ,..""Cast Numbers" of the carb,.

Does the body look like this minus the tag insert in the round bit on the side just next to where it says Rochester Quadrajet?

You can see this one's date code 0130 just forward of the 2ndary throttle shaft

Looks Identical Mate.... inc, all things,.. like,.. outlets, mixture screws, etc,. etc... spot on.

As you pointed out,.. no tag / disc,... or,.. any, provisions for one there, either,...

Still,... No,... "Julian Date Code" , on the throttle base, I can find atm... i.e. with reference to the attachment,.

only # on the base is a Circular,... "cast mould number" thingy of 7033678...

Maybe the sun will help ,.cause,.. dang,. it's a dull light down here in the shed...

It isn't a HK GTS327 carb then in my experience. The HK carbs have a different body, they use the 1968 body but with the 1967 code. No provision for the round tag. Same spec carby but it is probably off a 1967 Impala, Camaro etc.

Don't know if this thread // link, may help further, in shedding some light on things around that time with the HK's, seems a lot was happening with GM sourcing carburettors via ""Rochester Quadrajet"", with body dating and bodies at the time.... some others being soured via ""Cater Quadrajets""to suit the US GM market place during the late 60's... early 70's.

7028213 Was never used on HK Monaros, even though technically it would have been the next number in line number wise if Holden would have not have used the "8" designated "Monaro Only " Issue Quadrajet Carbies on the Type 2 Cars . I have seen a few early Type 2 Cars with the 7027213 DZ Carby also .
7028213 is the same spec carbie and next best option really to a real one . Be careful also many of the 7028213 carbies are "later issued" and "Carter made" Quadrajets with 1970s dates and different bodies . Will work fine but are much less desirable value wise.


7027213 DZ can be gotten in the US but it has the aluminium Date tag and uses the 1967 body , and are actually not that great of a carby for multiple reasons (1968 were better) .
The US spec Carby is not the same as the "Monaro only " Issue 7027213 which is a 1967 Dated Carby with an Early 1968 Body , as we must have ordered the 1967 Spec Carby late in the piece and they used the current issue 1968 Body at Rochester.

That is pretty close to correct but not quite right. I have seen the same carby we got here on the GTS327 in the USA, but an earlier date code (about 3 months earlier). None of ours are Carter made, when you see one it is obvious.
