Can the crankshaft and rods from a 202 Blue/Black engine be fitted to a Red 202 engine? Or is it better to use the Black/Blue block? Are the Crankshafts bigger/stronger in the Black/Blue engines? Are the the Starfire rods the best for 202/186 engines?

Yes if the 202 is post about 1973 as that is when the rear main seal changed from neoprene to rope and blue/black are rope type. Dave McLean tells me the black blocks are better material, but this will also apply to blue blocks from late 1984 to the end of 1984. Blue/Black cranks are fully counterweighted. Blue/Black rods are essentially the same as the final spec XU1 rods. They may hit your sump though, so check. Those last 150 XU1's had lumps in the side of the sump to clear the rods. |
