Hi, I have done a piston and the bore is as above with std Chev 305 pistons . I may be able to get the one cylinder sleeved and fit one new piston. This has only done approx 1400 kms in 9 years and was one of their own offset grind not scat. There appears to be significant wear at the top of the bore and maybe soft now. I measure 111 thou above standard specs and wonder if any have had experience with the little 253 regards boring out far. Any help appreciated,
Thanks Biggsy

I get that as .107" oversize at 3.732"

As a rules of thumb +.060" is usually excepted as the limit on 253 and 308. I've seen some 308's bored +.060" over break through to the water jackets due to casting core shift.

At +.107" oversize I 'am really surprised the bore didn't break through on your 253.
Bores must be wafer thin..
Interested to hear what others think..

I have heard of 253's being bored to 3.875" (307 pistons) running a 350ci crank from a 304/308. That is 250 thou oversize.
