Can someone confirm if what I think is correct on this early 71 Holden auto quaddy.

Located at the front of carb

Number - 1 for PVC hose?

Number - 2 dissy vacuum advance hose?

Does the rubber hose that connects to the choke heat pipe locate in the base off the standard 308 air cleaner? Seems to of been hole in my air cleaner that's been brazed up.




Also trying to chase up a PVC hose to suit same fitted to a HG. Rares only seem to have one that suits a HTG 253 or 308 HQ to VK which look way shorter.


Any help appreciated

Yes on all three counts, but make sure the carby is correct for your transmission.

ZF 1441.
I believe it's a very late HG 308 auto carb or possibly early HQ.

HQ 308 auto until about 8/73.

I think ZF 1441 is 144th day off 1971 which is the 24th May 71.
This date is more then a month before HQ production but I would assume it went on a early HQ rather then a late HG

It is HQ. HT-HG had different carbs (702 prefix). I have HQ 7041282 ZF's dated as far back as 0431, and the manual 7041281 ZE 0611. 24th May 1971 is actually into HQ production, but the carbs would have had to have been built back into January and February to get here in time for HQ production. A ZF assembled on 24th May 1971 would have been off an 8th or 9th month 1971 HQ. The latest HT-HG 308 auto carb I have is dated 0061, and the latest manual is 2670.

I assumed there would of been a big lead time for these.
So would the kickdown and accelerated linkage on this carb be the same on early HQ compared to HT/G?
It looks the same but i'am only going off photos.

afaik they are the same externally. And the HT-HG and HQ spec 308's are essentially the same with only the oil filler location, sump/pickup, engine mount adapters, alternator mount and heater hose attachment differing, so the carby spec is close. I'm not sure what necessitated the change in carby spec from HG to HQ, most be a minor internal variation. Would be interesting to find out what the South African SS with 308 got on them carby wise. The engines were stockpiled prior to HQ production but the carbs may not have been.

While looking for HT/G 308 motor reference pics I noticed 2 South African SS's with the fuel lines going into the front of the carb instead of the drivers side.
Maybe a carb swap at some stage or they were different.
