Sounds like a mid 1970's choked up smog engine. 882 heads are low low compression, low performance heads as used on base spec 350ci and 400ci SBC engines in the mid 70's. What will give up its original usage will be the 3 digit code on the end of the assembly code on the engine number pad. Something like CKU or BTV or something like that.

Yes, St Catharine's Ontario engine plant, 20th June (previously known as McKinnon engine plant until 1969 restructure).
CKB could be 1972, 1973 or 1974 so you'd need to find the year from the cast date on the block. On earlier Canadian V8's it was on the side of the block, the year was the leading digit. Not sure if it was still there in 1972-4.

1972 CKB is an L65 with TH400 transmission in A and B body. L65 is the 2BBL 165hp 350.
1973 CKB is an L48 175hp manual transmission in F, A and X body. L48 is the same engine as L65 but with a 4BBL (identical engine to the very last HQ 350 engines except they were auto only in Holden and Statesman).
1974 CKB is also L48, 185hp manual in F and X body.

In Chevrolet at this time:
A body is Chevelle and derivatives.
B body is Biscayne, Bealair, Impala, Caprice etc.
F body is Camaro.
X body in Nova.

Has a 2 F 5 under the clock/dial on side of block. Also A7 with D N under the A7 next to clock/dial.

Yes, 5th June 1972 which fits with its assembly date of 20th June. So it will be original an L65 auto engine from either a Chevelle platform based vehicle or a full sized Chevrolet. From memory this was the base passenger V8 engine in 1972 model year. L65 replaced LM1 after the 1968 months of the 1969 model year and remained as the base V8 engine until I think later in the 1970's (LM1 was the auto engine we got in HT-HG). The only difference between those early 1969 model year LM1's and L65 was the manifold and carby, but once 1971 model year came around I think the L48 and L65 then shared the same 8.5:1 bottom end (1971 L48 is what we had in the HQ). Prior to 1971, L48 was a high compression (10.25:1) engine (HT-HG GTS350 manual engine was 1969-1970 L48). Also from memory the L48 disappeared for a few years after 1971 until coming back maybe 1974, and only the L65 remained as a base spec 350 engine for a few years, which is where yours fits in.

Note:

LM1 is regular grade fuel 4BBL 350 (early 1969 model year only).
L65 is regular grade fuel 2BBL 350 (1/69 onwards).
L48 (1969-70) is hi octane fuel 4BBL 350.
L48 (1971 and 1974-) is regular grade fuel 4BBL 350.
LM1 was re-introduced in 1974-ish as well, but I think it was essentially the same as L48, just a different emissions spec engine for California.
There are others as well in Corvettes and 1970 Z28 Camaro but will just confuse the story.
