Hi all. Merry Xmas
I have a VH commodore that is fitted with a 437 chevy backed up by a two speed powerglide which is fitted with a B&M ratchet shifter. I have had a true trac diff installed recently. I have had the gearbox rebuilt as I snapped the input shaft sometime ago.
The issue I have is that now when I change gear up and down the gears "bang" "slam" into gear really hard. I don't want to drive is as I am afraid I might damage something..
Does any one have any ideas why the gears go home so hard or is it symptomatic of powerglides. Or does anyone know of a good gearbox specialist in the Caboolture/Brisbane/sunny coast area that I might talk to.
I have had thoughts that angles between to box and diff maybe be wrong just clutching at straws.
Your ideas are appreciated

I'd guess whoever rebuilt the box put a "shift kit" through it. Takes the smoothness out of changes, blips, the tyres on changes. In reality involves enlarging some oil galaxy holes on the shift plate, but enlarge them too much and it can be unbearable like yours sounds and will prematurely wear the box. Would be a fairly simple fix for an auto shop.
