Hi All Wondering if anyone can tell where this little beauty is correctly mounted in a HT. The PO had is screwed to the bottom of the dash rail near the glovebox. I think it should go somewhere else but can't get it to sit correctly anywhere. Any help appreciated Cheers Jacko

Yeah that's the right spot, directly below the button on the glovebox on the bottom lip, can't see it when installed.

thanks, it just looks wrong there- while lying on your back looking up under the dash mind you. I see there are two holes up and above this location but the bracket does not work there. Cheers Jacko

Cheers Jacko The location further up, does that have holes which are the same size as the larger holes in the black plastic bracket (5 to 6 mm) ? If it does, the socket should attach using 2 rubber lugs. Have a look at the number plate light socket mount. it should be the same. Dr Terry |

Hi Dr T Yes the holes are the same size and line-up BUT mounted this way the globe is facing down to the panel below the glovebox. The light reflected from here would be pretty poor. But if that is where it goes, go it will. thanks Cheers Jacko Edited by user Friday, 30 December 2016 9:39:17 AM(UTC)

Yes, but the rubber lug mounts will space the black socket out further so its final location should be correct, so should illuminate the floor well as designed.

OK, bungs fitted and I was wrong in that the globe does face into the footwell. I will need to make a small rubber spacer to keep the globe off the metal but it will work fine. Thanks for the replies. Cheers Jacko

It's actually just screwed straight to the lip with self tapping screws. The lamp holder is the same as the rear licence plate, but the rubber bungs are not used for the footwell lamp.

OK, seems we have a bit of a difference of views here. Any photos of an 'original car' that we can inspect?
Lastly, I read in another post that the drivers side had a foot well courtesy lamp mounted on the fuse block(lower right location?). Anyone ever heard of this? Cheers Ian

HI Yes it was a globe fitted into the unused fuse spot in the fuse panel next to the glove box/cig lighter fuse and below the tell tales backup fuse Hope this makes sense Cheers

Hi Bro Yep, makes perfect sense. I checked the wiring diagram in the HT supplement and it does show this globe mounted there. Thanks for the clarification. Cheers Jacko

Right, here we have an answer: This car is a one owner- still the same guy - HG GTS 350 Monaro. Took this photo of the passenger side courtesy light mounting position. It would appear, like mine and GM says, it is mounted via screws to the lower lip of the dash. Weird but there you have it: Edited by user Saturday, 4 February 2017 8:33:09 PM(UTC)
