Hey guys,
Well I have a HT monaro and want to install some bucket seats with headrests.
To that end I managed to grab some flip forward lx/ls/uc (don't know which!) seats and I thought the instal would be simple as a swap rails job.
Well obviously not the seats are considerably narrower and higher!
Just wondering if anyone knows of someone who's fitted later model seats to a hk/t/g & how they did it?
Also wondering are the seat frames the same width from hz/lx? Or are the hz wider?
If the hz are wider it may be worth me considering getting some hz ones and putting these hinges on them as then the rails will at least be closer to the proper width of the holes in the floor.
If hz aren't any wider, how should I approach this?
I dont want to drill new holes in the floor so I really haven't much choice but to modify the rails.
Aside from the width issue, the rear inside foot will have to be cut off and welded closer up to the front to more closely match the position of the proper hktg mounts.
I also have to try and cut down the inner feet (not that there is much to take off!) because if I simply space up the outside brackets my head hits the roof!
Assuming I am successful at all of that, is it acceptable just to weld some flat steel on each foot to run out to the holes? If i centre the seat inbetween the current holes basically the outer bolt hole of each foot lines up with the inner holes. If I weld say a flat strip of steel perhaps 30mm x 70mm x 3mm to each foot so I can use the original holes do you think that would be ok?
I was hoping this would be far easier lol
Cheers!

I am using a pair of V2 CV8 seats for my HK GTS. I assume I'll be fabricating some brackets to pickup the original floor holes. As far as I know Holden and Torana seats are the same width wise. WB are narrower between the runners. |

Hmm that's a good idea they'd be much more comfy I assume!
Ah well that answers one question - I always thought the lx/hz seats were pretty much the same but when I saw the difference in width of the lx vs ht mounts I thought maybe I was wrong!

One other question I forgot to mention....I have previously fitted early commodore buckets to a hg and it was easy to get proper head clearance as they are low seats and I just spaced up the outside mount by 40mm or so. I did put new holes in the floor but it was easy on those seats. I'm wondering whether hq/lx hinges fit the commodore seats? If so I may be better off finding another set of commodore seats and swapping the hinges?

I don't think they are anything like them, but worth a look to make sure. Maybe some BMW coupe or Escort coupe or even RX7? I remember my SII RX7 seats being very comfortable. |

The hinges (just going off ebay/google images) kind of look similar with the black cover and black spindle so I wondered if by some fluke the mount holes for the hinges were the same. Probably wishful thinking!
