Hi Folks,
I have a shortened Ford 9" in an EH Holden and I'm looking to change to something that has a different ratio. I believe the current ratio is at 3.55 and I want to move to around 3.1 I'm running a TH350 auto. Is anyone running similar setup with a V8 auto and 14" wheels who can advise on ratio to select for good balance between acceleration and 100km/hr cruise rpm.

3.50:1 is the ratio and 3.00:1 you are talking about their.
What V8 is it and what mods.
If it's a stock or near stock 308 or 350 I would go with the 3.00:1 in a 14in wheel EH to get the best balance performance.

The engine is a 350 with mild cam so has plenty of horsepower. Thanks for the advice.

If you want to get off the line a bit quicker look at a higher stall converter and the 3.00:1 should be fine or look for the 3.25:1 gear 9 inch if you drive more around town type driving but out on the highway 3.50:1 could be a bit to low.

I think I will start searching for parts to go the 3.00:1 ratio option. Most of my driving these days is street cruising or club runs.
