All
Can anyone tell me where the choke cable went through the firewall on a HK? Did any V8 variant have a manual choke or were they all auto? I have a holley on a 307 that will benefit from a manual choke operation so thought at least make it look right, even if it isn't.

6cyl other than 186S were manual choke, 186S and all V8 were auto choke. If no-one else gives you the answer before i'll have a look tonight and see if my 2 x V8 HK's here have the 6cyl choke hole, can't recall atm. |

I believe it uses hole number 6. This is used for one side of the ammeter connection where an ammeter is fitted.
Which now makes me what happens with a 161 or 186 fitted with a sports dash and a choke.

just had a look at my v8 hk's and hole number 6 isn't there. it was only used for the amp red and tacho brown wires if you had them from factory.
if your car is original 307 it wont have the no6 hole unless fitted with either gts dash and or floor mounted tacho and it's in a bugger of a spot if your car is orig 6 because it sits dead smack centre of the dizzy.if yours is orig 307 and you don't want to put extra holes in your firewall you have the option of drilling out the underdash insulation retainer no.10 similar to the heater control cable no.11 and putting your choke cable through there but it'll be a long cable required. on my brougham which has a modified 307 with 650 dp and manual choke I put a hole where there is an indentation just below the circle, draw a line between no.5 and 6. the cable just misses the dizzy and you can use orig cable. I didn't make the hole big enough for the grommet just the cable in case I want to patch it up later.

Thanks for the replies.
The car is an original 161 so hole #6 should be there - I'll have to check. Nonetheless, the extra hole at the indentation sound ideal. Unless I can squeeze it through another hole somewhere.
