Hi, guys
Fitted a reco injector pump to my 3 lt diesel and been running fine for the last 2 months but now it keeps coming to a complete stop and wont restart. After a while sometimes it will restart, run for a while before stopping again. It has came up with fault codes
P1612
P1613
P1650
P251
P1651
Any help with trying to work out were to start would be appreciated. Cheers John.

OBD2 codes are generic (ie the it's a shared standard manufacturers all use) so you can work out what they are with google.

P as a prefix all denotes "powertrain"

To get you started:
P1612 = immobiliser/ecu communication error.
P1613 = Check engine light output high - caused by ECU problems or data comms errors.
P1650 = Power steering pressure signal out of range.
P1651 = Fan control relay errors
P251 doesn't have a listing.

From the looks of all those errors, which seem to be unrelated, I'd be looking at electrical connection issues at the engine computer.
Other times I've seen a gaggle of codes like that is when corrosion has set into the harness on flood damaged cars.
Cheers,

Mick

Thanks for the reply Mick. The 2nd time it stopped and wouldn't restart I was only 200 metres from home and I did a u turn with the starter motor
and was able to roll down hill back to my place. I gather some of the codes would have come up from using the starter motor ie power steering out of range ?
This is the list that was found
P1612 = loss of IMP serial data
P1613 = holden loss of dim serial data or saab ecu fault
P1650 = driver to input voltage high
P251 = Injection pump (A) rotary cam problem
P1651 = fan control 1 relay or kdm (B) problem fault
The ute has never been in a flood as l have owned it from new. My son is a mechcanic and l thought I would ask on here thinking it may be a common fault with Rodeo's
and give him somewhere to start so l'll tell him to start with the computer connections.
Cheers John

Talked to a guy that had plenty of experience with Rodeo's and he said P251 rotary cam problem was probably air in fuel line and could have been something occasionally blocking the pick up in tank causing it to suck air from somewhere but couldn't find any thing in the tank. Thought sucking air since reco injector pump was fitted so replaced all the spring loaded clips under the bonnet with worm drive clamps and its still going at the moment, touch wood. Will find out if he was right in the next few weeks. Cheers John.
