Hi There, Im new here. Im a big fan of KTG's. I have bought a HK GTS and I believe its a 307 Auto, banjo.
I've heard that most info on a car can be read off the body numbers or sequence numbers or ID plate. Can anyone on this forum help with this? If so, What numbers do you need me to provide. Thanks

Is this the blue/blue car from Lloyds with a 327 in it?

Nice car but it was originally a Monaro, the two tags belong together and were off the same GTS.

If not then the numbers off the plates and off the firewall will help but you won’t pick from plates whether it was a 186S or 307. If it’s from Acacia Ridge you will know if auto or manual.

Then it should start HK737A ######B

With the banjo diff (quite rare) it is very difficult to tell even from the body.

Warren, wasn't the banjo pretty much standard with a 307 in the HK's. I thought you only upgraded to the 10 bolt when you bought the 327. Was it different for the Monaro ?
The only sure way to tell if it's V8 auto/manual in the HK is if you've got original papers/rego.

Banjo was standard behind 307 auto except for GTS but any 307 manual HK got a Salisbury. Prior to about mid July 1968 GTS auto got banjo but after that they were 3.36 Salisbury unless (rarely) optioned with something else. Very rare to find a V8 HK GTS after July ‘68 with a banjo, you’d count how many are known to exist on your nuts (assuming male of course!).

I reckon they should've had the 3.36 ratio for all 307's. If you're towing with the 2.78 auto your pulling heavy in top until you go down to under 40mph and it kicks down, which can be a hassle up hill.
mind you it's probably my only concern with the powerglide with that ratio.

You could also have optioned 3.08 banjo on 307 auto or 3.08 Salisbury on GTS.
