There you go my memory is fading but not all gone....I was right ...I did see them lol.

They were a bit like the spats they loved to put on.

The taste buds back then.

I had the exactly the same trim on my first car, a HT kingswood sedan. Mine was lower down and did'nt ride as high on the front guard as that blue car. Mine looked more natural. That just looks wrong. Some people call them a "hollywood trim". Pretty rare these days, and the ones you see have probably been tapped / screwed in places. Mine had been by the late 80's. My car ended up at the tip, side flash included. Wish i'd kept it now.

Here’s a few of the things I remember of accessories or “decorations” added to cars in the sixties (generally Holden’s and Falcons and later Valiants)
Mud flaps and tar babies (in my opinion tar babies being the best spoiler of any decent looking cars of any brand / model))
Sun visors (solid and mesh types)
Bracket on the front bumper bar for the water bag on long trips in the summer
Spats and spinners (spats with a chrome “special badge and I think chrome crosses or an arrow or something similar)
Thick white walls for the rim and tire
Fog lights
Extra bonnet mascots and fins for the top of the front guards
For the rear window: Pom poms around the perimeter - a couple of cushions with images of Malta or some other part of the world - a tiger with a bobbing head and red eyes that lit up when the brakes were applied (the red lights being an early version of what all cars have now)

From memory FB’s and EK’s were one of the more popular for some of these “decorations” and I think there may have been an imation spare whee cover for FB’s and EK’s that went on the boot?

The water bag hanger...How could I forget...They were on every 2nd car out where I came from...we had a big one under the verandah all my childhood.

And Tiger in the tank....A imitation tigers tail tied to the fuel cap....What fuel co was doing that spiel ??..Shell ??

Esso was the fuel “that put a tiger in your tank”. That makes me think of one of the stickers/decals you put on the back window of your car back then if you improved the original brakes by fitting a PBR power booster. This sticker if fitted probably gave a bit of prestige to owner of the car with it’s upgraded braking. I think the sticker advised those following “Caution Power Brakes” or it might have had PBR in there somewhere, if there was an advertising slant.
Other things from those days was that “Hoods” often had Zephyrs which were lowered at the rear and I think they also had spat’s fitted.

This one is a bit off the topic, but does anyone recall a part that was available back then (or were these home made?) that was fitted to the end of the cars exhaust pipe and was possibly was supposed to be a type of “extractor”? I don’t remember much about the one I saw but It probably two short pipes which were open to air passing under the car when it was moving forward and these pipes then bleed air past the tip of the exhaust pipe. This “performance” part was finished with a chrome metal cover. The only one I ever saw was on a Triumph Herald. Optimism is a great thing.

One of the cheapest "GO FAST" accessories was to remove the hub caps and paint the rims either black or silver chrome This was guaranteed for extra speed.
I have a collection of Nasco catalogue pictures and one caught my eye and reminded me of a production that Rare Spares did for GMH in the early 1980's. It was a production run of a 20' container load of the wire inner spring sets for the "COOLRIDE" seat covers We supplied the springs and another company covered them in a bamboo weave material. The perfect item to cover hot vinyl and leather seats These were the forerunners to the wooden beaded ones that came later
