Anyone used one of these recently that can recommend one particular brand?

I need to get a rear screen into a HK to transport it a long way and i'm wary of getting one that doesn't fit properly and thus being stranded. Note that this will be for permanent fitment to the car, not a temporary (it is painted and has the headlining in it).

I used this one: WSR119D from rare spares and had no issues fitting it.

Thanks mate. Sounds like the go. From what I understand it is the only one available anyway.

You of all people should know by now that Rare Spares will stand by what they sell after all your experiences with Head Office. Ring Shane if you have any concerns before you fit it. The best way is to use an experienced fitter who has done these before.

I understand that Rares does that, but anyone standing by what they sell does not help me out in the middle of nowhere (where the car is currently located) if there is an issue with fitment. Hence my question if one particular brand is better or easier/harder to fit than others, and also by implication if there are any particular fitment tricks so I can have the gear with me. If the car was at home in my shed, a different story of course. But since I asked this question I was told by someone experienced with these via SMS that there is only one rubber available on the market anyway so the question is irrelevant. I'll probably buy two rubbers from different sources too just in case there is any minor variations between them, basically as insurance as I don't want to get stuck. I have had this problem before with door rubbers on I think it was my LX hatchback, where one fitted better than another - rubbers were about 3 years apart in purchase date though.

I purchased one as part of a Rare Spares full rubber kit for a HK Monaro, late 2014. It was fitted late 2015 and looks fine. Wasn’t there when it was fitted but I don’t recall anything being said about any problems fitting it. I have some photos but black roof lining makes it difficult to get clear pictures of it. If photos help I can take some in better light and post them.

Tank you for the offer, but how it looks probably doesn't matter as there is only the one available. I was only worried about fitment issues, but it sounds like it won't be too much of a drama.

I want to get the car home to my place for its 50th birthday in the first week of July.

Two tips: Use a smear of dishwashing liquid on the inside of the seal (where is slides over the roof lip) and along the cord. I watched a guy do this when fitting another windscreen a while back and it works a treat. The liquid helps the rubber and cord 'slip' over the metal lip and does no harm to the rubber. Otherwise, have someone on the outside to help slap, push and lean on the screen to help it into place.

I advised that Shane Harris at Rare Spares Head Office 03 9 3054000 could give you some tips. These seals have been sold for years and there is no difference in their size. Every shipment has one checked at random against the drawings for conformance. I agree that you don't want to be left in deep **** in the middle of nowhere so get as much fitment instructions as you can.

I'll talk to Shane before I go if I can't get help with it onsite.

The aftermarket Rally Rim centre caps you guys have. On the short tailed ones, are the decals meant to be loose in the packaging? Reason I ask is I want some for the 15" Pontiac Rally Rims going onto this car, but I don't want the Holden Lion. I plan to rat some LC GTR or HK-HT GTS ones I have here and get the logos out of those. I saw a pair of them at a Rares store today and the logos were loose, but of they come that way all the time i'll grab some later.

Put in "WHEEL CAPS" into the search in the Rare Spares web site and it will give you all the different options available.

Looks like the sticker logos are supplied loose by design which is what I want, I just thought those I saw may have been old stock and they'd come adrift in storage. I'll order some soon, just have to start cutting up some old LC and HK caps for the red lion centres.

Just a note that the Rare's rear screen rubber fitted perfectly. From Rares I've ordered the door rubbers, flipper window rubbers, all side window belts, the rubber boots where the quarter windows exit the quarter at the doors and a few others. Will report back how they fit.
We fitted the roof rail seals but used Better Rubber ones as they seem to be slightly shorter that the Rare's ones. Decided it would be easier to stretch them slightly during fitment rather than trying to lose length in the seal.
I also ordered a set of HQ- mid HZ rally wheel caps. Anyone know someone in Australia who can produce a similar stick on centre logo but in a HK-LC wheel cap design?
