Does anyone know where I can buy the clips to secure external mouldings i.e eyebrow moulds, arch moulds etc.

Without the screws, rivets or the like that usually come with them in a kit.

I have had them for a long time and it would be a waste not to use them.

You may find that there are different clips depending on what model vehicle you have, which you haven't listed here.

Due to the small quantity of actual clips you could require you will find that clip suppliers will usually only sell in quantity lots.
Some of the clips used these days come from overseas versions that suit our requirements, but come with attachments regardless.
Then there are some clips that are remade as local manufacturers like Carr Fasteners and ITW Fastex have ceased manufacturing. There was also a couple of factories in Ballarat that ceased years ago. This has resulted in the supply of clips produced locally, as original equipment, drying up totally.

Current suppliers replacing clips these days follow the trend used in the USA of providing a package of all the components needed for fitment of mouldings etc. In some instances they have had to have new clips made to suit new mouldings that they have had remade. When they purchase clips it is usually in the thousands so they want to sell them as kits rather than as sub-components.

If you list your actual requirements, and possibly photos, then you might get some assistance or advice on supply.
Hope this explanation is of help.

The clips I am talking about are to suit a HK Holden GTS Monaro, the bonnet mould and eyebrow mould are a good example.
Probably next would be the GTS boot strip.
Most of the others there are only 2, 3, 4 of each them.
Of course it would be of no sense buying 1 or 2 here and there of each of them.
Yes there are those small kits available. Maybe someone could make up kits for, in this case a HK GTS, securing the external trim, stainless ,chrome whatever else is needed.
Rather than many small kits that many times more than you'll need.
Ok in this bag is all the clips and saddles. In this bag is all the screws nuts or whatever to fix the external trim or if you need everything, there's a kit there cost X $
If you're doing up a ute all you'll need this kit or doing up a station wgn all you'll need is this kit or whatever else it is you're working on
Or is that making it too easy for me to put this car back together.
For such small items I don't think the average bloke doing up a car would mind paying that bit extra for such a kits. They'd know that all they'd need is in that kit
that just arrived from 69 Cult or Rarespares or whoever else they'd consider reliable enough to do the job. Let the supplier here worry about where to get them from.
The way it is at the present you may need 10 items to do the job but they only come in bags or kits of 20 or 3 to do the job but they come in kits of 10.
That seems like a lot of waste to me. All right I suppose if all you do is build cars.
If somebody already does supply or can supply such complete kits well that is great but let me know so the only thing I will be disappointed about then is
that I just spent the time writing all this out.

Sorry to disappoint you but your desire to have kits to your requirements doesn't suit the people who sell them. You have to look at what the majority may need. It was found better to have a few extra clips to cover people dropping them, breaking them or having to do a job twice.

Maybe some years ago it was feasible to stock and sell in smaller individual lots but today it comes down to the financial practicality and stock levels.
As many retail outlets have inexperienced or learning staff they find it easier to sell the clips as a packaged kit. Most staff do not have the time or knowledge to look up and collect a couple of clips here and another couple from another shelf. As we get older then a lot of the knowledgeable people that worked in the parts business are either retired or moved on.In addition the retail blister packs allow the customer to see exactly what they are getting in their kit before handing it to the cashier. It also stops loss by theft and misplacement. The other consideration is that many people now buy on the net so their parts are visible firstly and then after payment are posted out to them.

Another factor is some mouldings are made from new tooling and may require clips to be made to suit their fitment.
Unfortunately as mentioned the reduction of actual manufacturers in Australia has changed the way that some parts are made and sold.
Your comments have been noted, but I can't see that it will change when the practice has been working very well so far.

Thanks Tour Director, Yes I can understand and accept most of what you are saying. Can't quite see the difference between counting clips and screws as distinct of counting bumper bars
In this age of online sales, I believe that the customer buys more from a particular retailer based more on the credibility and reliability they've come to know or believe of a retailer. Trust.
They have come to trust that retailer that that part whether it be a single screw or one in a blister pack or a bumper bar however they may be packed is what the retailer promised.
Satisfy the customer needs for the little things and the'll come to trust you'll satisfy their needs for the bigger things.
Anyway Its not going to change my buying habits a great deal on who I think is reliable in one way or another.
Just that I was recently sorting out many of the little small items like clip screws etc , the original ones off the car and the many that I have bought over the last 39 years
that I have owned the car and could'nt help thinking about all these little parts, along with all that has just been written above.
Best regards.

Flem,
The thing is that the retail market today has changed a lot compared to what is was when you started buying product 39 years ago. Factors that influence it such as what happens globally and what is taught in training have also determined how goods are produced and sold.
There is a big difference in counting screws compared to bumper bars, it is called economics. There is a lesser chance of a counting and packing error when you have one bumper bar by itself compared to a number of screws or clips.

One other factor is that less people carry parts for older cars these days so the question is where else are you going to get them. That doesn't mean that quality, pricing or availability have to suffer but that the retailer sets the guidelines if you want to buy the product. It is a free market and you can choose who you buy from but you are restricted if you choices are limited.
