Actually I just checked the HK parts catalogue & they list door trims for Brougham in both styles (door handle back or forward) so the change must be after the Monaro/Brougham release date. Also the interior trim material for Kingswoods & Belmonts changed from the ribbed HR style to the smoother HT style vinyl. Dr Terry Edited by user Friday, 20 April 2018 1:33:48 PM(UTC)

I just remembered the front doors inner skin changed, early cars (including early Monaro panels) had a HR like look, the later ones look like other HK-HG. Also the revised Opel 4spd floor shift changes along the way (floor shift not console shift). |

The early speedos had green lense tint , I’ve got one in my spares
A question about the long range tank-could that have been ordered on any HK sedan/coupe or was it a v8 Monaro option only?
Some great info here, it’s surprising they changed so much during the HK run

Pretty sure tha big tank was available outside GTS327, exactly how far outside not sure. I’m sure I have seen a sedan fitted with one. |

early green dash's were green printed not tinted lense. why were there some with the outer "panel" black and most were with the white/green outline around instrument outline?

Are you sure about that Doc? I reckon mine is suposed to be black and its an early December 1968 car. Havent made my mind up on that yet so I've got one of each. I looked a few untouched cars around November to late December period and I thought the change happened somewhere around November 1968. Mine is Melb built 12M8 steering box 24th Dec delivered and has a black heater box. Don't know if its been changed.

Here are some date stamps noted on my car during the restoration. Heater box from my car is grey. Car is 69 HK Monaro. Brisbane build. The stamp on the base, as best as I can read is 5 Sep 1968. The number stamped on the back of the speedo where the speedo cable connects is 1-69. The date on the outrigger is13 B 9. The case on the steering column looks like 21 A 9. The side windows other than driver side front window are all with the white dot over the L on the ARMOURGLASS label, which would be 1968 if that method of dating windows is true/correct. I don’t see anything on the rear windscreen and the front one is a new one. The original six inch rims are stamped 12/68. Other than the steering I box (the one in this car is not original) I am not sure if I saw any other date stamps during the restoration of the car.

I just found another difference. The rear quarter trim garnish (above the quarter trims), black steel bit covered in vinyl on a GTS and has the quarter window inner belt seal attached to it. On my Pagewood GTS 20-H5 the window belt rubber is attached differently to others. The 3 screws are the same that screw through the seal and the garnish into the body, but rather than flat formed spring clips going into slots in the garnish, the garnish has round holes, and the seal is attached to it with bifurcated rivets. I have a garnish off a later August 1968 Acacia Ridge GTS and it had slots, but this week 1 July 1968 GTS has the holes and rivets. My red GTS327 which was an earlier August 1968 has the holes too I think, will check it. The RH side one is missing off my car, but I have a spare later driver's side one to swap. I can use washers under the split rivets so they go in the slots but i'd rather use an original type if I can. |

Yeah that is weird, my December car has 4 clips and then theres the three screws that mount the assembly to the body. Rivets may have been as interim thing before going with plan 'C' the clips. Mine has the same screws but split rivets and holes rather than clips and slots. If rivets was plan B then it must only be Monaros and the pilot GTS’s that had plan A. Now I wonder what they had? |
