80337 2-A or 80737 2-A ? If it is 80337 2-A it is probably the Elizabeth Sales Promotion car, is it a 186 auto?
Remember these early cars were built in September 1967 and thus given BODY tags. 10-J would have been the intended trim at the time, they changed the trim for the Monaros late in the piece if memory serves me correctly, like closer to mid 1968. Not sure if GTS trims changed too. |

It will be the trim that appears in the Monaro owner manual in the base model Monaro, cannot remember off the top of my head which page it is though.

That car is the first 80337 body put together at Elizabeth in Sept ‘67, and when the car was assembled in April ‘68 it became the Sales Promotion car. 80337 1-A was the tryout coupe shell that was put together at Woodville. |

Yes there are many pictures of the Sales Promotion HK 80337 - all through the HK Monaro sales brochure. It is the red car. BUT, I 've just been told this one is not that car. 80337 2-A is a mystery car, the Sales Promotion is 3-A. 2-A had an entirely different and as yet unknown purpose. |

Red/red car in the sales brochures. There was only two sales promotion cars if I remember correctly, GTS was photographed as it was built and then turned into another identity and then photographed again. |

I think I know the car you mean, was a optioned up base model red on red with gts hubcaps and 186-S.. so that's number 3-A..

As far as I am aware yes. I think it was auto too. May have been a tyre option too hence wider wheels which automatically came with the wheel covers. |

You could try, but it was Ben who told me that 2-A wasn't the sales promotion car but 3-A was, and that 2-A is not yet nailed so you probably won't get much more.
Was this car an auto or manual? I'm pretty sure it will have been a 186.
Does it have the second letter on the firewall below the chassis number suffix?
Is the VIN tag from Elizabeth or is it from another assembly plant? |

Maybe, or it may not have been assembled until late in 1968 or thereabouts. Remember HT 81837 2-A wasn’t assembled until 1970.
Or the VIN tag doesn’t belong to the car. |

When the body was built it would have been painted and trimmed, just front end and driveline needs to be fitted.
The trim would have been completely wrong as this would have been built as a Kingswood coupe, with incorrect seat covers and glovebox trim. If the front end had been fitted in 1967 it too would have the wrong badges on the guards.
It may have been sent to Brisbane to have these rectified before sale.

Hard trimmed Warren, interior would not normally be done other than headlining. But this may have been different being so early. It may well have got normal X trim when it was assembled?
Do the Kingswood and Monaro badges share the same pin holes in HK? |

Was the Sales Promotion GTS a Grecian White car ? .. If so, this early 2-A shell might've "morphed" into it, with not much regard to its intended original build spec. ?
