Hi I have no idea about car engines, so please forgive me. I was advised to purchase an engine for a toyota dyna. Which was incorrect and now I wish to sell it. I was informed it is a Holden V8 308 with a VM 660589. The only other number I can find is GM 92062646. It is a 5 litre engine. It also has an auto gearbox. Can anyone please give me any information about this engine. Thanks

I believe it will be an early VT 5-litre with sequential injection. VM in an early Commodore (VB, VC & VH) is not a V8, it is a lo-comp 3.3 6-cyl. If it is complete with all its ancillaries, ECU & harness etc. it would make a good conversion project for an HQ-WB Holden. Dr Terry Edited by user Friday, 26 October 2018 12:13:00 PM(UTC)

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

As Dr Terry says. It could also be newer than VT as well, VS utes continued to use the VM 5.0L until about August-September 2000 whereas VT 5.0L ended mid 1999. The ECU will tell you what its original application was. |

That is exactly how it worked. Given the 10,000 number difference I'd be pretty confident it is from a VT not a VSIII. Edited by user Monday, 29 October 2018 5:44:00 PM(UTC)
