Hi All. I know Doctor Terry will know the answer to this one?
I know that the front wheel bearings internal diameter was increased from FX FJ FE FC when the FB was released and the bearing sizes then remained the same up to HG and probably up to WB too, however, is the hub itself the same on FE FC as on FB to HG with bigger internal diameter bearings or did the hub change to larger outside diameter bearings as well. I have several sets of FE FC hubs with and without bearings but no EJ hubs. I have removed some recently from old rusty trailers lined up for the scrappy and all were FE FC Hubs. I kept one reasonable axle complete with the hubs on it. The other axles were too rusty and pitted. I don't have any later hubs to compare the dimensions.
I want to put hubs on the front of the EJ Ute so it can be moved around and test run in the driveway before it moves to it's new home when Steve dismantles and moves a shed from Brisbane to Blackbutt. Steve is doing the panel beating on my HG Van.

Good question !! AFAIK the wheel bearing change occurred in mid-FE. Early FE used FX/FJ bearings, while the new bearings were used all the way from mid-FE to VP Commodore. The hubs are the same from mid-FE to HR (drum brake) & the HK/T/G drum hubs were also used on Toranas. I'm not sure of the differences between the FE-HR type & the HK/T/G type, they may have a different offset. I've never put the 2 side by side. Thanks Dr Terry. I wasn't sure of the changeover date even though I've owned numerous early Holdens over the years. Was the change in both inside and outside bearing diameters or only the inner diameters? I will just have to pull out my parts books and cross reference the part numbers for the hubs up to HG. The books are all packed away in boxes.

Yeah, AFAIK both ID & OD were different between the early & late bearings.
