I was wondering if someone can explain to me the reason the painted stenciled part number and picking code that appears on the HT HG axle housings is different to that listed in the parts catalogue.
Thanks |

My guess is the code on the housing is for the complete assembly versus individual parts in the parts catalogues. |

Thanks part production codes... used in manufacturing are ALWAYS different to the actual part numbers in my experience For example ... M21 gearboxes on Holden, Torana and V Car lines have 'ZM' painted on them.. actual part number is 92004559 Commodore fan shrouds have HR.. part number is 9946371 |

Just to add to smitties reply, the broadcast code was to identify the different diffs, gear boxes and engines etc to identify the internals as per build plan. You could have say 2 types of M21 boxes with the same casting number but different length shafts. Same diff housings by part number but different ratios etc, etc. AL. The rear axle with brakes is different to that of rear axle without brakes. This is the same with the front crossmember, it comes with brakes, so different part to that listed in parts book.
