on the HQ starter the hole centers are 83 mm ( 3 1/4 inch ? ) the front edge of the mounting holes are 11 mm from the resting face of the pinion


on the VH starter the hole centers are 81 mm , the front edge of the mounting holes are 18 mm from the resting face of the pinion

Im guessing a VN-on V6 stsrter. Their bolt holes are close but not same, & drive ass is wrong

Generally the solenoid has a heat shield, & the solenoid is sealed unit, no 2 screws holding the black cap on it where the wires go

ta ill chase up with the bloke i got it off but he assures me it was v8 in VH commodore , yes had the heat sheild on the solenoid

bracket for 3rd mounting bolt at rear of motor
