This is just an observation

The original metalic (or chrome) finish on HKTG interior plastics looks to me like it was sprayed on like paint.
Theres obvious overspray on the back of every part I've looked at and you wont get that with real vacuum metalizing.
I reckon they would have been sprayed with an aluminium VMP (vacuum metalized pigment) a lot like that ALSA easy chrome paint.

So I wouldnt call the original finish vacuum-metalized I'd call it metalized paint.

Today a more durable option is to have the parts vacuum-metalized which is actually PVD (physical vapour deposition) its applied in a vacuum chamber and it deposits an even and very thin layer of vaporised aluminium on all surfaces of the part.

If youre on a budget dont be afraid to chrome paint it.
