Im replacing the joiner in the fuel line in the holden wb ute. Its the one on the chassis rail on drivers side. Is it 5/16 or 8mm?

5/16. Also called 8mm. There is less than 0.07mm difference between the two.

Ive tried to use 5/16 and found it hard to push on and thought that
8mm might be easier

AFAIK all hose manufacturers interchange 8mm with 5/16", as HK1837 has said there is less than 0.07mm or 2.5 thou difference.

When rubber hose is cold it can be difficult to push on. Either heat it up with some hot water or try something like silicone spray to make it easier to fit.

8mm is actually the smaller one.

That joint is a bugger to replace. The old one you cut off but it can be hard to slide it up one pipe then onto the other. Heat or lube as Dr Terry says.

I beg to differ. 8mm = 0.3149" while 5/16"= 0.3125"= 7.938mm

To me it looks like 8mm is a fraction larger.

You are right, not thinking straight. I did the calcs right and mixed it up afterwards! I don’t think you can buy one or the other easily. Most places seem to sell it as both.
