If some were the round HQ floor plate you would have to think that would eliminate fuel tank sender issues as you would not get a hand through it.
So maybe it is a rear upper left control arm bolt issue.

HG Belmont was a production model at the timeframe we are talking about. Remember the body and assembly plants back then might as well been in other countries. Communications was telephone or Telex. They had an IBM 360 mainframe used for scheduling vehicles but the Internet was really only military at that stage, and not really used for a lot until the Web was developed in the mid 90's. So the plants all did things slightly differently. It must have been an employee suggestion to get easy access to do up the fuel hose and connect the sender and it was only early Pagewood HQ. Using the floor plate it must have been "bring your 3 year old" to work day or something, but the HG heater blank would have worked. They must have changed the assembly process somehow to do it another way as the other plants did it without the hole and Pagewood did it soon after HQ started.

Pagewood number 112 which was a HQ Deville had the round floor cover, photo below. The other is of a Pagewood coupe, it was a V8 GTS I think (grabbed off Gumtree) but by the firewall number I could see it was much later, up in the 4 or 5 digit firewall number and the firewall number was in the normal spot.

I'm not sure if these covers went on in the BAP or the VAP, but by the rust around that hole in the coupe I'd say it went on prior to paint so BAP but no guarantee.
