I am trying to get the auto choke working on my WB 4.2. It’s the original carby.
Where or how do you know when the choke is in the correct position or tension to adjust it?
Any idea on where it was set at from the factory?

Any idea on where it was set at from the factory? I assume you have had it apart.. new gasket, retainers and spring? Agree. Just have to get the right carby, or get one built right for the engine. The difference in my HJ Premier since I ditched the cheap generic spreadbore Holley crap and fitted a rebuilt correct GMH Quadrajet is amazing. They also sound good, I went to the extra expense to buy the Quadrajet version of Holley Sniper EFI partly as the induction sound is far nicer than the squarebore version. Also allows me to run an original 1969 drop base GM air cleaner with a decent manifold and still fit under the bonnet. |

Yes they are a good carby. It just really needs to go on a dyno and probably is due for a rebuild. The choke hasn’t worked since I bought it and I just thought I might sort it out.
Unfortunately the bloke who was a whiz on them and had the dyno tune locally isn’t real motivated to have a look at it for me. Anyone suggest a good dyno tune between Dubbo, Sydney and Newcastle?

PBE Dynotech in Newcastle also does carburetors, they have done a few Holleys for me no problem including Dyno testing and tuning and are located in Sandgate. Their number 49680088
