I've noticed on a few 253 engines that the engine casting date has month and day format flipped. I read that the early blocks had month/day/year and later had day/month/year. I guess the early format was US format. Does anyone know when they changed formats ? Was this format variation the same for all Holden engines ?

I'd have to go and look at photos but I think it was later in 1973 that V8 blocks switched from North American format. 6cyl were in US format too but from memory they changed a little earlier. |

Thanks for the info. I've seen late 1972 V8s with US format, so that tallies what you suggest. Rgds.

I have an M3 on a 308 so it'd changed by December 1973. The closest I can find earlier than that is D303 on a 308 so its between April 1973 and December 1973. |
