Just about to put a new fuel pump in my VN V6 , any recommendations of manufacturer ? Old pump is getting noisy so ,think its time for a new one. Thanks Mark. |

There 2 types of fuel systems on VNs.
The early cars had 2 pumps :- 1 in-tank low-pressure pick-up & the external high pressure. If the in-tank fails, the external pump will still pump but will be noisy.
The later VNs just had 1 in-tank high pressure pump, when it fails the car stops.
My guess is that you have an early VN with 2 pumps & the in-tank has failed.
Just replace both pumps. The in-tank was Delphi genuine, while the genuine external was Bosch, I'd stick with the genuine suppliers.

There isn't really a clearly defined Series 1 VN, there were several upgrades at different times. The only way to find out if yours has the 2 pump or 1 pump system is to check the existence of the external pump.
