7043232 but it is a 1973 spec carb off a 472-500ci Cadillac, carby built in 1975. Might be original or possibly a spare part carby as it was finished on 21st January 1975.
7029262 is a 1969 Pontiac 400 to 428ci carby, by the date code its a spare part carby as it was built in 1977.
(70)29251 is a 1969 Oldsmobile 400-455 carby. It is an original one as it was built in 1969. |

Thx Hk, it was the dating that was of the primary concern and it makes sense but just thought I would check. You can only read so much and with regards to the Rochester there seems to be a lot of conflicting information especially when it appears that the year of manufacture doesn't mean the year of application in some cases. I think the Pontiac carb was also used to power the 350 in that model option as well. Did GMH ever use the Carter carb as delivered from GM for the HK327 engines? It isn't that the information is conflicting, it is that people don't understand it and make assumptions. The year something is built doesn't mean the year it was introduced, for example the carbs used on Holden/Statesman 308 and later LH SLR/5000 HJ were first introduced for ADR27 in 8/73, 7043283/4. These carbs were used in Australia until the end of 12/74 and on export 5.0L vehicles until GMH stopped exporting them. Also used on 5.0L engines supplied to the marine industry locally until the stopped building carbureted 5.0L, so they are dated well into the 80's. GMH didn't use any Carter built Quadrajets on GTS327 that I have ever seen. They so far are all Rochester and they are 1967 US (except California) pre emissions carbs, all completed on the same day. However the 1968 Impala and Parisienne assembled by GMH (with the same engine as GTS327) used the 1968 auto (emissions) version of the 7027213 carby ie 702 821 2. NO non computerized 2BBL carb was on the RP product range so GMH got the new Improved Performance 6 cyclinder engines carby from GM Strasbourg, which we now know these days as the VaraJet funny though... * did NOT apply when the 6cyl swap to the Buick engine fell well behind.. durability and service failures were the big problem there. Someone in Supply found that Nissan had an existing 6 cyl engine that dropped in... would make the swap to Unleaded Fuel easy and bonus ! came with matching(existing) transmissions. RIP then the existing Holden Red/blue/black 6 cyl... and that stopped the project to ask Detroit for squillions to re-tool these for ULP. GMH did ask Detroit and were given the $ to do the 308 tooling... eventually |

Smitty, you missed DW's point. In the later 60's Rochester couldn't keep up with Quadrajet supply so Carter built them also under licence. They are a carter Quadrajet. Initially Rochester gave them the 1967 body tooling and they continued to make them in that format but later also swapped to the later tooling. The date coding is different and the model code is stamped upside down compared to a Rochester. |

Thx HK, understood.
Thx also Smitty and they should be sacked IMHO. Or at least made to drive a ford with a broken drivers side door handle for 12 months to think about what they've done.
