I have a Bosch HEI that was on my 308 at one stage. I want to refresh it and lock the mechanical & vacuum advance out to use it with a Holley Sniper so I can control timing with the Sniper.

Stripped it down today and there is only 1 metal shim on the bottom of the distributor above the drive gear. My understanding is there should be 2 metal shims sandwiching a fibre shim?

Anyone have any idea where I could source these? Dr Terry maybe, you did a re-curve on a HEI for me probably around 20 years ago now.

Cheers

not in my recollection... so I checked the parts drawings for the V8 HEI and it shows a shim on top of a fibre washer
the points distributor has 2 metal shims both sides of a fibre washer

I’d just buy a Holley Hyperspark dizzy. I’m using a SBC version of it on my HK.

You can probably buy a simple distributor for use with the sniper for what you'll sell a good HEI for.
