The passenger side front door/guard on my HZ makes a squeaking type sound a bit like metal rubbing on metal, only so often and usually makes more noise when the car has been out in the sun for a while. It also makes a fairly loud "crack" or bang when sometimes going over certain bumps in the road. I have had a look at the guard and made sure all the mounting bolts are tight etc It's very hard to explain, but very annoying, as it doesn't do it all the time. Would I be better off to remove the guard to investigate further? Do I change the body mounting rubbers? Open to any suggestions please.

Put a jack under the bottom control arm and lift the wheel off the ground and try to wiggle the wheel every which way. There shouldn't be much more than a few millimetres of movement in any direction. If that all feels firm jack it up under the front crossmember so the entire passenger side suspension is off the ground and try wiggling the suspension components around. Don't be gentle, there shouldn't be any play in any of the joints even when really forcing them by hand. Whatever moves needs replacing. HTH.

Check if the chassis is cracked where the bracket that the LCA is bolted to is welded to the chassis. They often crack at the back weld especially if the car has had aftermarket springs fitted especially heavy ones. They also crack where the UCA mount is welded to the chassis. I’ve had them make similar noises to what you describe when the chassis is cracked. |

Thanks, but it’s not suspension, everything has been replaced
