Can anyone help with this engine number? (170278712) Does this relate to a 350 chev? If so what year & what vehicle would it have come out of? Thanks............ Also this number (V946240P) relates to 1975 HJ as a VIN No. Would this be the chassis number? Edited by user Wednesday, 8 April 2009 1:45:02 AM(UTC)

Looks like a casting or part number to me. Its certainly not like any Chev engine number I am familiar with. Also looks a lot like a carby number? _______________________________________________________ If we all had the same (good) taste, who would Edited by user Wednesday, 8 April 2009 1:25:24 AM(UTC)

Thanks for info, but checking out a 1975 HJ holden on Vic Roads info site, comes up with those numbers for engine & Vin/chassis on rego. details. Seems a bit sus. Havent gone to inspect vehicle as yet so im only going by vic roads registration details. Edited by user Wednesday, 8 April 2009 3:07:22 AM(UTC)

The V946240P looks like a Victorian Police number.

Thanks for all your replies. Much appreciated. I am currently waiting for an e-mail from person selling the vehicle with more pics and more info on I.D. and Engine No. and I will take it from there. Thanks again for your input.
