Id been getting oil in my intake manifold for a while now, since my last rebuild, through the PCV. Was putting oil in every week while i chased answers. Long story short i tried everything you could ever think of to solve the problem: PCV valves, locations, hoses, diameters, checking for blow by, different breather caps etc etc.

And you know what it was? My rocker cover. Something i think Dr Terry touched on while i was looking for help. Apparently Rare Spares have never heard such a thing, which is fair enough, but here's the proof. 1 worked 202, 1 aftermarket chrome rocker cover, PCV sucks oil. Put the old cover on with two gaskets to clear the roller rockers, and we're away!

Wonder if this happened to anyone else? Those rocker covers sell by the dozens.

Probably the lack of baffles in the aftermaket cover.

Cheers,

Oh, there was baffling, under the fller cap as well (total pain to fill up) but the baffle under the PCV was just a thin channel, about an inch thick at most. Stock covers have a plate that runs along half the cover, so theres a huge difference, so yeah,

Sorry, I confused you with another guy.

To run a PCV valve with an X2 manifold, you need to remove the manifold & drill & tap the manifold in two places on its inner face. You cant drill the outer face, thats the water jacket, you cant drill the top or

Dr Terry, that was me with the glazing! Id t-pieced the PCV temporarily with the brake booster and it meant that all the oil sucked up was deposited straight into 5 and 6. That combined with what seems to be a power valve problem (apparently they need to

Hi HQforme.

How do you space carburettors downwards, to be ultra low ?? Where did you drill to fit the one single central PCV port ??

More accurately i should have said that i made the thinnest spacer possible so that the lowest point on the throttle linkages and choke rod (linking choke plate to throttle) barely clears the manifold (about 1mm max). Any taller and the filters would foul
