Guys,

How much surgery is required to the front of the chassis rails to put a WB ute front onto my HZ tonner?

And is it possible to modify the radiator mounts so I can use the HZ radiator and shroud? It is only 12 months or so old so not really keen on buying another one.

Cheers

Kev

You have to cut the nose off the rails and hence lose the front bar bolts, so when the WB bar goes on only 2 x bolts go in. I have seen them notched at the nose, rather than cut off altogether so the bar bolt remains, but its of no use to you anyway with a WB nose/bar.

Youll also have to either put up with the HZ tonner cowl panel not lining up with the WB bonnet, replace the cowl with a HJ-WB (except non-BO6 HJ-HZ tonner, which is what yours is) cowl or bog it to match.

You can use the HZ radiator and shroud but WB cross-flow radiator is far superior for cooling so id keep it if you can.

Byron,

The mismatch of the cowl and bonnet doesnt worry me at the moment as the yellow cab is not staying on there much longer. The better cab I bought not long back has the correct cowl. The front I am picking up doesnt have a radiator while my HZ one is only a couple of years old.

How far back do you cut the nose off the rails?

Bronson,

It currently doesnt have a front clip on it. Sold the commercial front months ago.

Cheers guys

I dont know the exact measurements as ive never measured it but it is around 40-50mm. Look at the donor car that the front is coming of and youll see. Measure from the rear two front bar bolts on each side on the WB rails, and cut the HZ ones in the same spot.
