Australias most spectacular Hot Rods, cool customs and bikes will be on show at the Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne, with doors opening at noon on Friday January 22 and closing at 6.00pm Sunday January 24.

Over its 45-year history, this event has become a Mecca for more than 180 of the best hot rods, customised cars, street machines and bikes in Victoria and is now regarded as the premiere Hot Rod Event in Victoria.

Show manager Peter Unsworth expects that the memorable three day show will provide up to 30,000 visitors an opportunity to reminisce about the past, enjoy the present, and look into the future of Hot Rodding.

"Inside they will find a capacity display of mind-blowing hot rods, wild street machines, way-out customs and some unbelievable motorbikes, and for the first time in the shows history there will be an outside display of some fantastic chrome bumper Aussie Muscle Cars" he said. "This year on the Friday we will also see the show unveil two never before showed Hot Rods, which im sure will impress."

One of the highlights of the Victorian Hot Rod Show will again be the judging of the coveted 'Australia's Coolest Ride' trophy for the most desirable road-going vehicle on display, which in 2009 went to the stunning 1932 Ford Boydster of Melbourne's Mark Course.

For the kids or junior rodders, there will be a display of mini rods, low rider cycles, slot cars and a large model car display - all in the running for trophies and prizes.

Other innovations at this year's show include an award for the Best Dressed Trade Stand, a Kids Colouring Competition, with trophies for entrants in four categories, while patrons will be entertained on the Saturday night, by a Rockabilly band on an upstairs dance floor.

Hot rods have a universal appeal, appreciated by all ages, regardless of whether you are a car enthusiast or not. Its just hard not to be impressed by these machines and the many hours the owners put into building them. The Victorian Hot Rod Show is just a lot of fun for the whole family concluded Mr Unsworth.
