Afternoon, can someone tell if a HZ rear disc conversion on a currently drum braked kingswood will push the track out or will it stay the same?

If it does increase the track, by how much (roughly)

cheers

No, the track dimension will remain the same. The disc brake axles are shorter to make up for the difference in thickness between the disc & the drum mount face.

thanks Doc, so if i fit the aforementioned discs to my existing 9" with drums, it should push the tyres out away from the inner guards (ive got a slight rub that i dont want to use a hammer to fix lol)

thanks!

Yes, you will achieve your desired track increase, but what about caliper mounts ? They must match the disc rotors position precisely.

Dr Terry.

without seeing the backing plate (hidden in vast piles of assorted junk) i suppose the difference between the drum thickness and disc thickness machined into a spacer for the caliper might do it.

I might end up with a shonky* wheel spacer if it all gets too hard, and for the price of discs, booster, caliper rebuild i could probably just fix the diff.

*shonky "off the shelf" spacer with added machined wheel centre bore to axle spigot adapter and long shank wheel nuts, studs are 4" by 1/2" anyway.
