I reckon this will be a simple one for you guys again Are the HK bonnets the same as HT-G? Pete OH PS: Apart from the scallop in the quarter panel where it lines up with the door line, is there any differences in the quarters? Edited by user Saturday, 5 June 2010 8:12:26 AM(UTC)

The coupe bonnets are different. The HT & HG have the flutes/scoops. The sedans, wagons, panelvans and utes would be the same

The bonnets will interchange, there are 2 basic types (with & without scoops) but there are other differences if you are fussy.
HT bonnets have cut-outs in the inner frame where the H-O-L-D-E-N letter's mounting pins protrude near the front.
Likewise for HG, they made cut-outs for the script badges in the LHS front edge.
There are many types of rear quarter panels, HK tail-lights different (for all body styles) & the roofline is totally different to HT-G (Kingswood & Belmont). Premier & Brougham have different roofline again. Coupes different off course.

Wheelarches are slightly different in HK as well, except Monaro.

Thanks all
Byron is the difference in the arches clear? I have NOS HT Brougham quarters to put on the HK Brougham and for the life of me I can't spot a difference in the arches.
I cut the old quarters off below the scallop so that the body line through the door matches.

Not sure about Brougham. They may be the same as they were introduced when HK coupe was introduced, and HK coupe was the first to get HT style wheelarches.

Ahhh fair enough. I sat the HT quarter against an HK and they seem identical so that must be the case.

Sydney made probably the most HK-HG coupe shells, and Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne did them too. AFAIK all panel pressings were made in the same place and assembled at the above 4 x plants. Dr Terry will confirm or deny.

The letter at the end of the chassis number indicates the plant that welded the body together, the letter under it represents the plant that finished it.
Have seen M, B, S and A on them. At this point in time no Monaro coupe has been found with a P underneath. (Perth was only a final assembly plant not a body plant). It is beleived that they did not assemble coupe bodies.

This was my belief also. I believe that Elizabeth took over these duties from Woodville in the mid 1960s, can you confirm cloudy ?
Why would they have more than 1 pressing plant. It's a bit like the engine plant situation, one place of manufacture (Fisherman's Bend), shipping to all the assembly plants. The cost of tooling is too expensive to have duplicates.
