H120400 is the PSN (plant sequence number). It is the total number of vehicles (not just HK) built in the Acacia Ridge plant from 1/1/68, starting at H100000. So it can have Pontiacs, Bedfords etc in it, whatever the plant built.
From memory that console is a Saginaw or Powerglide console. Your mate's is an Opel. SOmeone please correct me if wrong.

The console comes in 4 main pieces, base, shift insert, front insert and lid.

There are two bases, Opel is one and th other is for Saginaw and Powerglide. So he second base can have either a manual or auto shifter insert.

Try the Monaro register for your sequence number, but it is an October 68 build.

Saginaw and all auto (Powerglide/Trimatic) floorshift console shells in RHD vehicles had the hump on the left side. If the hump is absent it is from an Opel floorshift car.

Yeah thats right. As with a lot of their reproduction stuff they leave out the attention to small but crucial detail. Just like the GTS hubcpas that dont fit on 5" rims and incomplete HKTG glovebox liners or the left hand mirror kits with screws instead of bolts. The list goes on. Their consoles will be fine for the people building hotties with a B&M shifter etc.

I have the Rare Spares GTS Hubcaps on my HT Panel Van and they fit a treat .

Drove plenty on them and have never fallen off . It is still is fitted with its original 5 inch Rims .

However the inner retainer frame does slowly over time spin and will cut off your air valve as they are not crimped right or spotted together . I believe the second batch of these they were rectified .

Maybe they wont fit on HK 5 inch Rims ?
