I'm traveling from Melbourne to Kalgoorlie on Thursday and have a CB with a magnet base antenna. I've protected the paint on the roof with heavy plastic but the cable runs across the roof to the passenger door. I'm concerned that the wind may cause it to flap and eventually damage the paint on the roof. Is there any problem with putting race tape over the cable to secure it? It will only be there for about 3 days but I don't want it to take any of the paint away when I remove it. Can anyone help? Other suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance...bluHJ (Now a white VY)

Race tape should be right. It's only when its left on for ages that it can be a bastard to get off. The silver stretchy Duct tape is a pretty good one too. Thats what I carry on the bike. It peels off a bit easier but still sticks really good.

Thanks for the replies. I did think it would be ok. It's only for an emergency so I've decided to leave the antenna behind the seat. I can surprisingly still receive with it there. Jim. The idea of the foam is a good one. Didn't think of that. I do have a mobile and will have it with me but the reception across the Nullabor is not that good. The CB is, as I said, just for an emergency.
cheers...bluHJ

Why dont you just put the aerial right over to one side and run the cable straight in the door?

Got that Jim. As well as a hammer and a flat blade screwdriver. If I need anything else it can't be a true Holden.
