What's is wrong with my window wipers?

They just stop working the other day, they sort of started working on the 2 speed for awhile. Now it' only works on speed 2 if I'm sitting in traffic, roll forward a bit and brake hard. They sort of move a bit, if i do that a few times they will do the full window and back down. If I'm going down a steep hill they will work fine in 2 speed only and then stop on a flat.

Thanks.

Intermittent connection perhaps??
Check that all the plugs are on properly, and if someone has yanked the wires to disconnect the plugs, that one of the wires hasnt worked loose in the plug.

Plus.. 40+ year old switches may not be as good as they used to be (bit like myself when i train with the kids)
Or the motor might not be earthed properly.
Whilst you are in the area checking the earth, check to see if the links are loose or if the holes have worn oval and are binding, or something in the wiring or insulation hasnt disloged and is Hitting the arms...
Other than that.... replace everything (sorry)
