G'day all.

I have myself a 1967 Chevy Impala. 4 door Hardtop (pillarless). Australian assembled. Right Hand Drive.

I'm trying to find some info on the trim code from the Body ID plate.

The plates they used were the standard Holden tags of the time and cars were painted locally by Holden using their colours.
Here's an image of the Tag: (Tag had to be remade. The original is still legible, but was attacked by the ex-wife of the guy I bought the Impala off, during a not-so-pleasant divorce)

BODY: 67-16439-301 TRIM: 510-F29 PAINT: 585-9562 INSERT: Blank TOP: Blank
What I know:
BODY: 67 = Year (1967) - 16439 = Body Style (Fischer body # for 4 door hardtops) - 301 = Order or Build # (301)
PAINT = 585 = Dulux shade - 9562 = Grecian White

What I don't know:
TRIM - This code is the only code I can't find any mention of. I've searched the various Trim & Paint codes throughout OldHolden, Holdenpaedia, and this forum ... as well as Googling my arse off, but nothing avails on my specific code. The style of code fits with Holden's HD/HR offerings of that time, yet nothing specific for my exact sequence.

Aside from the Fisher body number (16439), nothing on the tag correlates with any number in relation to the US codes. I'm certain it's Holden specific.

The colour of both the cloth & paint of the interior is a Tan colour. Just not sure of its official name.

If anybody can shed some light on this info, it would be truly appreciated.

Regards,
Russ

F29 will be specific for a 16439 built by Holden and you would need to find a Holden trim code for this to find the answer. It will be in a parts book or the like. By this HB and HR used the following trim codes for blue trim E44, E50, E56, E61, E74, E79, E97, F02, F14, F19, F37, F41, F44, F47, F50, F61, F63, F67, F74. F67 is only used on Premier wagon, F65 is the same trim in a Premier sedan. One trim number per body style and luxury level.

Yours will be either Honey Fawn, Samoan tan, Copra Fawn or Copra & Valsand Fawn as these are the trims used in HR and 67 HB Torana. This will be the trim used in Australian built Chevs and Pontiacs.

As it is cloth trim my bet would be on the trim being Copra & Valsand Fawn.

I hope this helps.

As Warren has said, the F29 interior code will be specific to the Aust built Impala, but it does fall in line with Holden codes of the era.

E29 was a code used in the HD mid-model upgrade (Aug 65) & the F codes are for HR Premier but they were introduced at the HR mid-model upgrade.

510 is the GM-H code for a Grecian White (single colour) exterior paint scheme.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

OK. This makes a little more sense when added with what I've read elsewhere.

Each trim colour will have diffferent codes, depending on the vehicle it is in. So a Impala 4 door Hardtop & an Impala Sedan could have the same colour trim - but because they're different style of vehicle, they would probably have different trim codes?

haha.

Appreciate the help gentlemen. If I can scrounge up any more info, I'll post it here.

Cheers,

Hello, I know this topic is a little old but I was wondering if anyone could help with the tags on my car. I have a 65 Impala convertible, with Holden tags. From research this doesnt seem possible? Any clues?

It may have been a special build. I have heard of some GMH assembled '55 to '57 Chev 4 door hardtops that were consulate cars. So it may have been something like that.
The tags aren't Holden tags, they are GMH tags. Holden tags have the lion on them. The CKD stuff got those GMH tags without the lion.

Thanks HK,
You could be right, my tag is the same type as the image at the top of the page, but I do have a number next to line at the bottom where it says "TOP" The Body number says 65-114-150
Would love to know the history of the car if anyone had any clues, it would be at least 25 years since someone outside my family owned it

If you can, PM me to get my email, and send me a picture of the tag. I'll see what I can find out for you.
