realised i should have posted this in the technical section so here it is again. and im still having trouble with it so ii'd be good for a few more clues about it..so i was driving home the other day coming through a roundabout, car was pretty cold, and my car just died in the arse. wouldnt turn over for about 10 minutes, then out of the blue on about the 30th try it started. all the dash lights come on, radio works etc. I was on the way to the gym today and it did exactly the same thing..the engine light comes on and off when its running too..any ideas what it could be? i've got no idea. i thought it might have been starter motor but it cut out while running? any help would be great

alright it happened again a few times and it seems to only happen when the engine is cold - every time it's happened i've on been driving for a few hundred metres - and when the revs are low. every time it has happened has been when i've changed into 3rd. last time it happened i put it back in second, dropped the clutch and it started again, but i pulled over and turned it off and it wouldnt start again for about 20 minutes. what the hell?

When you say it dies and won't turn over, are all the other electrics working ok? If not then it could be an earth. Check the main engine strap and the battery strap.
Not sure this would explain why it happens in third gear unless the twist of the engine dislodges the earth.

it seems to be shutting down when the car get up to temp. my VS and my VT 5L did the same. both times it was the ignition module on the inner guard or on the VT,bolted to the inside of the air box. when it got hot. it would shut the car down untill it cooled down enough to work again. let the car fire and run. both time when i was cranking the engine when it played up. the injectors would pulse. fueling up the engine. i was told if it was doing the same thing without fueling up,it could be the sencer in the base of the dizzy. i cant think of what the name of it is. try replacing the coil packs also as these often fail causing these symptoms.
