Gday all, Can anyone help with how to work the id of the following 327 Chev complete motor i recently came across in an old HK P/van (Not factory fitted). How do you decode these numbers into casting dates, (VAP)plants & what vehicles fitted with these engines etc? #Engine Number = 32741632T112130 (The 3 didget on the end could b a H)? very hard to read last 3 numbers etc.... #3914660 (Block casting number)? No, it is an engine from a GMH Dandenong plant assembled Parisienne or Impala. Same engine as a HK GTS327 type 1 engine except for the sump, carb and other minor external accessories AND the Tonnawanda part of the engine number. The Tonnwanda bit is probably T11213Q maybe (going from memory). If it was a GTS327 engine it'd be TxxxxH5. It is the 1632nd 307, 327 or 350 fitted to a Dandenong HK-HG or Parisienne or Impala. |

What about casting dates - do you no what month/year it may be etc?

Could be anything. GMH plants stamped them once they were assembled ready to use. The Tonnawanda 327 engines were mainly 1967 and 1968 cast and the '68 Impalas and Parisiennes were sold new up until 1972 from memory, fitted with these same engines. By the GMH number and the Tonnawanda number it should be cast prior to 21/11/67 though. |
