All
I have a dash to fit to the 307 with the oil pressure, temp and Amp gauges. Any advice on sender units for the temp and oil would be much appreciated. I am after part numbers as well as locations for both.
Also after wiring diagram for ammeter - mud map or otherwise.
Thanks in advance
HMK

Here's a quote from another Forum that should help you out.
Sender Part Numbers: By wombat 28/03/11@00:54 NOTE ON OIL PRESSURE SENDERS FOR OIL PRESSURE GAUGES... HD,HR,HK,HT,HG,HQ,VB,VC,VH,VK,AND LC-LJ toranas all used VDO PART NUMBER 360-004 for the oil pressure sender unit in cars with a oil pressure gauge.. HJ,HX ,HZ AND LH,LX,UC TORANA all used VDO part number 360-005 for the oil pressure sender unit in cars fitted with a oil gauge.. cars fitted with a temp light use vdo part number 320-037. HD,HR,HK,HT,HG,HQ AND LC,LJ TORANAS all used VDO part number 320-002 temp sender for cars fitted with temp gauges. AMunro327 Many thanks for your response. Will help greatly. Anyone with any idea for the ammeter wiring? I have come across this http://holdenpaedia.oldholden.com/Ammeterwhich helps but I am now wondering if the HKs used a shunt resistor or if all current ran through the dash. If shunt, how big, if not, what gauge cable would have been used? HKM

There was no separate shunt resistor used in Holden ammeters in those days. All current (exc. starter current) goes thru the ammeter itself.
The circuit wiring layout on oldholden is not quite right. It is technically correct but that's not how the wires themselves are connected.
The best circuit can be found in HD, HR, HK, HT, HG or HQ factory workshop manuals.
Basically the existing red battery to alternator wire is eliminated. A new wire is run from the alternator to the fusebox & one side of the ammeter. A second wire is run from the starter terminal to the other side of the ammeter.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Many thanks, that should just about sort it all out. Not sure if I am overly keen on all that current running through the firewall and up to the dash. Must remember to run that cable carefully.
